Wrinkle filling - BOTOX

PROCEDURE:

Injecting the botulinum toxin in specific parts of the face is one of the most common aesthetic medicine procedures in the world. BOTOX causes relaxation in selected facial muscles responsible for wrinkling. Following the injection facial and cervical skin becomes smooth and even. Most common facial areas to apply BOTOX are as follows:

• wrinkles on the forehead (forehead lines)
• vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (lion's wrinkle)
• wrinkles at the outer corner of the eyes (crow's feet)
• smoker wrinkles around lips
• creases on the neck and cleavage

The results of BOTOX treatment start to appear after 2-3 days and the effect lasts for 4-6 months. BOTOX is active only in those muscles where it was injected and it does not have effect on other areas or the whole facial expression

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

The procedure is minimally invasive and the patient is not required to make any special preparations. During the consultation session all the contraindications should be excluded and the treatment is planned with respect to which parts of the face shall be treated. The patient can return home right after the procedure, but must refrain from intensive physical activities, bending or severe temperature changes (e.g. sauna) for one day. Usually, normal activities and work can be resumed on the next day.

Contraindications for the treatment:

• allergy to the ingredients of the substance used
• neuromuscular diseases
• disorder of blood-clotting or taking blood-thinners (e.g. Aspirin, Acard etc.)
• local skin infections
• pregnancy and breast feeding

Possible adverse drug reactions:

• As with all procedures involving prescription-only medicines, wrinkle filling that uses botulinum toxin can cause adverse reactions. Any adverse reaction appears within several days from the treatment and is only temporary. After each procedure that requires injection, the patient should expect minor pain, burning sensation, prickling, puffs and swelling caused by the injection.
